Broadway Grosses: Hedwig & Cabaret Make Gritty a Hot Ticket on the Great White Way

'Internationally ignored,' Hedwig? Hardly!

A popular tune says "the neon lights are bright on Broadway," but audiences also love gritty and seedy! Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Cabaret, which opened on April 22 and 24, respectively, both enjoyed packed houses this week. Rock goddess Neil Patrick Harris played to 102.14% capacity, and the Kit Kat Klub overflowed at 100.17%. Meanwhile, The Lion King took the lead as the highest grossing show, a spot frequently dominated by Wicked (which trailed closely behind). The recently opened Les Miserables and the usual suspects The Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots took the remaining spots in the top five.
