Broadway Grosses: Feel the Earth Move? Beautiful: The Carole King Musical Creates Quite the Stir at the Box Office
Jessie Mueller as Carole King in 'Beautiful: The Carole King Musical'
'Beautiful' broke another box office record at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre!

"One Fine Day?" Try one fine week...again! Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, in the midst of celebrating seven Tony nominations, continues to pack the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The tuner broke a box office record for the second consecutive week, bringing in its highest gross to date ($1,087,702) and exceeding capacity for the first time. Meanwhile, this season's Tony-nominated favorites Hedwig and the Angry Inch, A Raisin in the Sun and Aladdin also made appearances in the top five shows by capacity. Wicked reclaimed the number one spot as the highest grossing show (followed by The Lion King, which held the title in recent weeks, but only played seven performances), with The Book of Mormon, Raisin and Aladdin also making the top five. Kinky Boots, a usual suspect for the frontrunners by gross, played only four performances last week due to TV upfronts occupying the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
