Broadway Grosses: Hedwig and the Angry Inch Plays Record-Breaking Week Prior to Taking Home Four Tonys

Come on, sugar daddy, bring it home! Prior to roping in four Tony awards on June 8, including Best Revival of a Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch set a box office record at the Belasco Theatre. In just seven performances, the Neil Patrick Harris-led tuner grossed $1,021,707.87, beating a record held by the production during the week ending May 4. Aladdin secured a spot in the top five grossing shows for the third consecutive week, joining fellow perennial faves The Lion King, Wicked, The Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. Meanwhile, the first show of the new season, Holler If Ya Hear Me, started performances on June 2 at the Palace Theatre. "Keep ya head up" for this Tupac tuner, which could land out of the underdogs as buzz travels.
