Weekend Poll Top Three: Fans Think a Beautiful Movie Musical Would Be 'Some Kind of Wonderful'

The hit musical Jersey Boys is working its way to movie theaters on June 20, and we couldn't be more excited to see Tony winner John Lloyd Young reprise his role as Frankie Valli alongside Erich Bergen, Vincent Piazza and Michael Lomenda as the harmony-crooning Four Seasons. Our anticipation got us thinking—there are plenty of jukebox tuners with compelling stories (both biographical and original) that would make great films. This weekend, we asked you which one you'd want to see make the leap from stage to screen. The results are in and here’s what you had to say!

1. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical—37%
We might be jumping the gun a bit on this one, seeing as the bio-musical took home two Tony Awards just last week (including one for headliner Jessie Mueller). Still, there’s no denying that Carole King’s story would make great movie material. It has everything we love in a flick: a tour-de-force performance from a leading lady, a dramatic love story and of course, chart-topping music. Now, can we get Mueller on board for her big-screen debut?

2. The Boy From Oz—15%
Those gold pants are camera ready. The 2003 Broadway tuner, which premiered in Sydney a few years earlier, tells the story of the song and dance man Peter Allen, from his childhood in Tenterfield, Australia to his iconic performance at Radio City Music Hall. Hugh Jackman could still conceivably reprise his Tony-winning role as Allen if a movie adaptation was greenlit soon. So, Hollywood, can you get on that, please?

3. We Will Rock You—9%
While this Queen tuner from across the pond has not (yet) played the Great White Way, we’ve seen a Vegas and national touring production, not to mention engagements in 17 countries. After that type of international success, perhaps it's time to get Galileo and Scaramouche to movie theaters.
