It's not even Labor Day weekend, but we're already geared up for another season on the Great White Way. The fall lineup has it all: stars of stage and screen to plenty of fresh faces, straight plays to toe-tapping tuners and new works to returning classics. We asked you which upcoming production you were most excited to see on Broadway this fall. The votes are in, and here's what you had to say. Make sure you get your tickets soon!
1. Side Show—22%
As it turns out, we all (well, 29% of you) love them as they are! Erin Davie and Emily Padgett, who starred as conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton in the reimagined production in San Diego and Washington D.C., reprise their performances on the Great White Way beginning October 28. When the show last played Broadway in 1997, the production (starring Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner) had an infamously short run. Here’s hoping that this time, Daisy and Violet stick to their promise and never leave us. At least not for a while.
2. On the Town—15%
Who doesn’t love a man in uniform? Beginning September 20, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Tony Yazbeck and Clyde Alves will don their sailor whites at the Lyric Theatre (formerly the Foxwoods) in the classic musical by Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. We here at Broadway.com support the troops, especially when they’re singing “New York, New York.”
3. It's Only a Play—10%
Tony winners Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane and Stockard Channing. Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham. Emmy winner Megan Mullally. Harry Potter fave Rupert Grint. All that plus newcomer Micah Stock. What do you think that casting meeting was like? These stars will lead Terrence McNally’s comedic salute to showbiz beginning August 28.
