The Chichester Festival Theatre production of Taken at Midnight will transfer to the West End. The Mark Hayhurst play, directed by Jonathan Church, will begin performances on January 15, 2015 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. All ten members of the Chichester cast, including Penelope Wilton, will reprise their performances in London. Press night is set for January 26.
Taken at Midnight follows Irmgard Litten, the mother of celebrated Jewish lawyer Hans Litten, who puts Hitler on the stand in 1930s Germany. The play explores her courageous efforts to help him, but not without devastating consequences.
In addition to Wilton, who takes on the role of Irmgard Litten, the cast will include Martin Hutson as Hans Litten, Allan Corduner as Fritz Litten, Pip Donaghy as Erich Mühsam, Mike Grady as Carl von Ossietzky, John Light as Dr. Conrad, David Yelland as Lord Clifford Allen, Marc Antolin as Gustav Hammerman, Christopher Hogben as Hotelier and Dermot McLaughlin as SA Officer.
Taken at Midnight will run through March 14, 2015. The production features set deisng by Robert Jones, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Mike Wlaker and music by Matthew Scott.
