The Kristin Chenoweth-led On the Twentieth Century celebrated its official opening on March 15 and Peter Gallagher’s recovery, along with an influx of members of the press, helped the revival to the highest capacity on the Main Stem this week. With many of the tuner's reviews as impressive as co-star Andy Karl’s arm curls, the show should see an uptick in grosses as it continues its run. The underdogs by gross can mostly be explained by the plethora of productions beginning previews, including Finding Neverland. With audiences curious to discover what all the buzz circling around the Harvey Weinstein-produced tuner has been about, the musical's one performance this week was at 102.10% capacity. Meanwhile, The Lion King led the perennial frontrunners by gross and Larry David’s Fish in the Dark broke its own previous house record at the Cort Theatre, bringing in the fifth highest box office on the Great White Way.
