The Broadway.com staff is crazy for Culturalist, the website that lets you choose and create your own top 10 lists. Every week, we’re challenging you with a new Broadway-themed topic to rank.
Funny Girl made its Broadway debut on March 26, 1964. Fifty-two years later, a London revival is set to start performances (on April 8) and the enticing prospect of its on-again, off-again American comeback has got every actress from Lea Michele to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom throwing her hat in the hypothetical ring. The tuner’s U.S. return is not the only item on that Great White Way wish list of ours. From the stand-up circuit to the subjects of our Netflix binge sessions, there is a slew of hilarious female celebs we'd like to see make a Broadway debut. And the funny ladies seem to be into it: Amy Schumer recently made her mark at Hamilton. Bloom told Broadway.com she’s penned her own musical (“It’s basically a f**ked up 42nd Street.”). And we can’t let go of Tina Fey’s endlessly teased Mean Girls stage adaptation. So which funny girl should make a Broadway debut that leaves us in stitches? Broadway.com Editorial Assistant Lindsey Sullivan selected her top 10 picks. Now it’s your turn!
