Gayton Scott, who replaced Julie Halston in Gypsy, will do so again for White Chocolate. Halston, who is heading to Hairspray, plays her last performance in the off-Broadway comedy on October 30 with Scott beginning the next day.
Scott took over for Halston as Miss Cratchitt and "You Gotta Have A Gimmick" stripper Electra in the last Broadway revival of Gypsy when Halston departed for Twentieth Century. She had previously appeared with Halston in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of The Women, where she played various roles and understudied Halston. She also appeared on Broadway in Present Laughter. Her off-Broadway credits include I Stand Before You Naked and Notes From a Séance. Her other theatrical credits include the national tour of The Buddy Holly Story, A Little Night Music at Barrington Stage, Lost in the Stars and The Times at the Long Wharf Theatre and Three Postcards for the Portland Stage Company. She was seen on the small screen as Tiffany Astor on Guiding Light.
William Hamilton's White Chocolate is a satire that takes a look into the lives of two society patrons one Jewish, the other a blue-blood who are shocked one morning to find that their skin color has changed overnight.
The show, running at the Century Center for the Performing Arts, will continue to star Reg E. Cathey, Erik Laray Harvey, Paul H. Juhn, Samantha Soule and Lynn Whitfield.
