Brenda Braxton to Return to Broadway's Chicago on December 5

Brenda Braxton, who is currently appearing as Velma Kelly in the national tour of Chicago, will return to the Broadway company on December 5. She is replacing current star Luba Mason.

Braxton has previously played the role of Velma Kelly on Broadway. She received a 1995 Best Featured Actress Tony nomination for her performance in Smokey Joe's Café. Her other Broadway credits include Dreamgirls, Cats, Legs Diamond and Jelly's Last Jam.

In addition to Mason, the current cast of Broadway's Chicago includes Charlotte d'Amboise as Roxie Hart, Huey Lewis as Billy Flynn, Debra Monk as Matron 'Mama' Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. On January 16, Robin Givens will take over as Roxie Hart and John O'Hurley will begin performances as Billy Flynn.

When Braxton departs the tour, Terra C. MacLeod will replace her on the road.
