The PBS performing arts series Great Performances will present a filmed version of the current Broadway revival of the Stephen Sondheim/George Furth musical Company. The public television show will join with Ellen M. Krass Productions to film the matinee and evening performances on June 30.
Company is set to close the following day, July 1, after 34 preview performances and 247 regular performances. Lonny Price will direct for television. No airdate has been announced.
John Doyle's production of Company stars Tony nominee Raul Esparza as Bobby, with musical direction and orchestrations by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, set design by David Gallo, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, and lighting design by Thomas C. Hase.
In addition to Esparza, the cast includes Barbara Walsh as Joanne, Keith Buterbaugh as Harry, Matt Castle as Peter, Robert Cunningham as Paul, Angel Desai as Marta, Kelly Jeanne Grant as Kathy, Kristin Huffman as Sarah, Amy Justman as Susan, Heather Laws as Amy, Leenya Rideout as Jenny, Fred Rose as David, Bruce Sabath as Larry and Elizabeth Stanley as April.
