John Schneider Headed to Broadway in Chicago

TV star John Schneider, best known for his performance as Bo Duke on the 1970s hit series The Dukes of Hazzard, will join the Broadway company of Chicago as Billy Flynn for a nine-week run beginning January 14, 2008. Schneider's limited engagement is scheduled to continue through March 16 at the Ambassador Theatre. Jeff McCarthy begin a previously announced five-week run as Billy on December 7 and will depart on January 13.

Schneider made his Broadway debut as Felix Von Gaigern in Grand Hotel and has appeared onstage in The Will Rogers Follies, Brigadoon, The Music Man, The Civil War and last summer's production of Mame in the Hollywood Bowl. In addition to his Dukes role, Schneider has appeared on Nip/Tuck, Smallville and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and will appear in the upcoming HBO series 12 Miles of Bad Road and in the Hallmark miniseries Shark Swarm opposite F. Murray Abraham and Daryl Hannah.

An accomplished guitar player, singer and songwriter, Schneider has released 11 solo albums. He is also a co-founder the nonprofit Children's Miracle Network, dedicated to helping children by raising funds more than $3.5 billion to date and awareness for 170 children's hospitals.

If his current schedule holds, Schneider will miss overlapping on Broadway with his former Dukes of Hazzard co-star, Tom Wopat who played Luke Duke, by one week. Wopat begins previews in the new musical A Catered Affair on March 25, 2008.
