Olivier Winner David Bedella Joins Jerry Springer Concerts

David Bedella, who won a 2004 Olivier Award for creating the roles of Warm-Up Man/Satan, has joined the cast of the upcoming Carnegie Hall concerts of Jerry Springer: The Opera. With Harvey Keitel in the title role, Jerry Springer will be presented on January 29 and 30, directed by Jason Moore.

Also joining the concerts will be Katrina Rose Dideriksen Tracy in the Las Vegas production of Hairspray as Shawntel. Bedella and Didericksen complete a cast that includes Linda Balgord as Zandra, Irene and Mary; Lawrence Clayton as Montel and Jesus; Luke Grooms as Dwight and God; Sean Jenness as Chucky; Sam Kitchin as Steve; Patricia Phillips as Peaches; Laura Shoop as Baby Jane; Emily Skinner as Andrea; and Max von Essen as Tremont. The ensemble will feature Katie Banks, Kristy Cates, Patty Goble, Chris Gunn, Celisse Henderson, Robert Hunt, John Eric Parker, Kate Pazakis, Eddie Pendergraft, Richard Poole, Soara-Joye Ross, Tory Ross, Roland Rusinek, John Schiappa, Michael James Scott, Dennis Stowe, Edwin Vega, Sasha Weiss, Betsy Werbel, Jim Weitzer and Lauren Worsham.

Jerry Springer: The Opera features music by Richard Thomas and book and lyrics by Stewart Lee and Richard Thomas. Musical direction for the concerts will be by Stephen Oremus.

Inspired by America's most lurid TV talk show host who brought worldwide television audiences episodes including "Pregnant by a Transsexual," "Here Come the Hookers" and "I Refuse to Wear Clothes" Jerry Springer: The Opera opened at London's National Theatre on April 29, 2003 and later transferred to the Cambridge Theater in the West End. It won four of London's Best Musical prizes, included the Olivier.

The Carnegie Hall concerts are being produced by David J. Foster, Jared Geller and Avalon Promotions.
