Richard Kind and Judith Blazer Join Daniel Reichard in Candide


Richard Kind and Judith Blazer have joined the cast of New York City Opera's forthcoming production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, alongside Jersey Boys alum Daniel Reichard in the title role. Candide will play 14 performances at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, April 8-20.

Kind The Producers, Spin City has been cast as Dr. Pangloss/Voltaire and Blazer Love/Musik, Sweeney Todd at City Opera will play The Old Lady. Lauren Worsham Myths and Hymns, tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Lielle Berman Cendrillon at City Opera, Candide in Milan will share the role of Cunegonde. With original direction by Harold Prince and choreography by Patricia Birch, Candide was last seen at City Opera in 2005. The original Broadway production with Barbara Cook as Cunegonde opened in December 1956.

Candide has a book by Hugh Wheeler adapted from Voltaire and lyrics by Richard Wilbur, with additional lyrics by Leonard Bernstein, John Latouche and Stephen Sondheim. City Opera's sets are by Clarke Dunham, costumes by Judith Dolan, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Abe Jacob.
