Worship Her! Little Mermaid Diva Sherie Rene Scott to Star in Benefit Solo Show
Sherie Rene Scott
Tony Award nominee Sherie Rene Scott will star in a one-night-only benefit performance of You May Now Worship Me, a new solo show described as "a collection of musical short stories." Presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the show will be held at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Monday, March 31, and will benefit the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative of The Actor's Fund.

You May Now Worship Me is conceived and written by Tony nominee Dick Scanlan Thoroughly Modern Millie and Scott currently starring as Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid and directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer Spring Awakening, with musical direction by Tom Kitt High Fidelity.

In You May Now Worship Me, Scott presents a collection of deeply personal stories. From her childhood in Topeka to her eventual rise to what she refers to as "Broadway semi-star," this is her truth, her whole truth, and nothing but her truth—only better. Featuring songs made famous by such icons as Judy Garland, Rickie Lee Jones, Tom Waits and Mr. Rogers, You May Now Worship Me reminds us that none of us are in Kansas anymore.

Before taking on the role of the evil sea witch in The Little Mermaid, Scott received a Tony nomination for her performance in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and starred on Broadway in Aida, Tommy and Rent. Off-Broadway, she received an Obie and Lucille Lortel Award for her performance in Landscape of the Body and starred in The Last Five Years and Debbie Does Dallas. Other notable stage credits include Randy Newman's Faust and Kander & Ebb's Over and Over. With her husband, Kurt Deutsch, Scott co-founded Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records sh-k-boom.com which has produced more than 50 albums, earning five Grammy nominations and a 2006 Drama Desk Award for dedication to the preservation of musical theater through cast recordings.

Tickets for this special evening ranging from "Worship Me" packages to "In Awe of Me" tickets are available from www.BroadwayCares.org.
