Irena's Vow tells of a courageous and unsung wartime heroine. During the Nazi occupation of Poland, Irena Gut Opdyke was forced to work as head housekeeper for a very prominent Nazi major. Over a two-year period of service, 12 Jewish refugees secretly fell under Irena's care, and the play centers on the choice she had to make, one that would mean life or death for the 12 refugees.
Currently reprising her Broadway solo show Golda's Balcony in London, four-time Tony nominee Feldshuh's other New York stage credits include Cyrano, Rodger and Hart, Dreyfus in Rehearsal, She Stoops to Conquer, Mistress of the Inn, Three Sisters, Tallulah Hallelujah!, Full Gallop, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh. Her film work includes Lady in the Water, Just My Luck, Kissing Jessica Stein, A Walk on the Moon, Happy Accidents, The Corruptor, Daniel and The Idolmaker, among others. Feldshuh has also performed two other one-woman shows, Tovah!: Out of Her Mind and Mining Golda: My Journey to Golda Meir.
Playwright Dan Gordon's stage adaptation of the movie Terms of Endearment recently toured the U.K., and his adaptation of Rain Man, starring Josh Hartnett, will debut in September in London's West End. His screenplays include Murder in the First, Wyatt Earp, The Assignment and The Hurricane.
