Charles Kimbrough Joins David Hyde Pierce in MTC's Accent on Youth

Tony nominee Charles Kimbrough will join previously announced star David Hyde Pierce in Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of Samson Raphaelson's Accent on Youth. Daniel Sullivan will direct the play, which is scheduled to begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 7, 2009 for a April 29 opening.

Accent on Youth centers on successful playwright Stephen Gaye Pierce, who is about to abandon his latest script when his young secretary offers him new inspiration. With her as his muse, he stages the show on Broadway, only to learn, to his dismay, that the show's young leading man is being inspired by her, too. Kimbrough will play the role of Flogdell, Gaye's distinguished butler.

Kimbrough is best known to television audiences for his Emmy-nominated work as anchorman Jim Dial in the comedy series Murphy Brown. Onstage, he most recently appeared in the Encores! staging of No, No Nanette and the New York Philharmonic concert staging of My Fair Lady. A Tony nominee for the original production of Company, he appeared on Broadway in Sunday in the Park with George and starred in MTC's off-Broadway production of A.R. Gurney's Sylvia opposite Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker.
