A Chorus Line's McGill and Hairspray's Naughton Set for Fame Remake

A Chorus Line's McGill and Hairspray's Naughton Set for Fame Remake
Paul McGill
Broadway babies Paul McGill and Naturi Naughton have been cast in the big-screen remake of the 1980 movie musical Fame. McGill will play Kevin, a gay dancer, and Naughton will play Denise, a classical pianist, in the film, set to start shooting in November.

Like the original film, which was directed by Alan Parker, the new Fame will follow a group of students through a year at New York’s High School of the Performing Arts. Choreographer Kevin Tancharoen will make his debut as director for the new film.

McGill made his Broadway debut as a teenager in the ensemble of La Cage aux Folles before originating the role of Mark in the revival of A Chorus Line. Naughton played Little Inez in the Broadway company of Hairspray.

Fame
is aiming for a September 25, 2009 release date.
