Dancing with the Stars Co-Host Samantha Harris Headed for Chicago

Samantha Harris, co-host of the hit ABC series Dancing with the Stars, will make her Broadway debut this summer as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Harris has signed on for a six-week engagement in the long-running musical from July 7 through August 16 at the Ambassador Theatre. After her Broadway run, Harris will play Roxie in the Greenville, SC, engagement of the national tour, August 18-23, at the Peace Center.

In addition to her co-hosting duties on Dancing With the Stars, which ended its latest season on May 19, Harris is a correspondent and fill-in anchor on CBS’s The Insider and spent four years in the same capacity at E! News. During a stint on the weekend edition of Extra, she performed with Cirque du Soleil, sang a duet with Wayne Newton and danced backstage with Patrick Swayze while he performed in Chicago.

Onstage, Harris toured in Eric Idle Exploits Monty Python and in the original Los Angeles cast of Reefer Madness. She has appeared in the movies Beautiful and Drop Dead Gorgeous and played Dawn Wells in the TV movie Surviving Gilligan’s Island.

The casting team of Chicago obviously pays attention to Dancing with the Stars: Former contestants John O’Hurley and Lisa Rinna have gone on to appear in the Broadway production, and Jerry Springer has signed on for a stint in the London production beginning June 1.
