Blue Man Group is headed for the big screen. The original stars of the wordless comedy, Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman, will star in an Imax 3-D feature film to be produced in 2010 and released in 2011, according to Variety. The film will play at traditional Imax venues such as museums and science centers rather than at multiplexes.

Director David Russo told Variety that the movie, to be written by Lisa Robinson, will be about “the Blue Men entering the brain of a socially and creatively congested person and observing his neural patterns and his habitual brain functions and memory and altering it in a way that helps him bring his inside life outside.”

The off-Broadway production of Blue Man Group opened on November 17, 1991, and is still playing at the Astor Place Theatre. The Blue Men, who have made five albums, will write the score for their upcoming movie. "We want all our work to touch you in a simple way,” said Wink, the chief creative officer for the group. “We're vaudevillians; we're not here with deep messages."
