Benjamin Stone, a self-involved tycoon who attends a reunion of Weismann Follies showgirls with his unhappy wife, Phyllis, and is reunited with her friend Sally, who has carried a torch for Ben for 30 years.
Bio Brief:
Raines made his Broadway debut as Gaylord Ravenal in a 1983 revival of Show Boat and played Billy Flynn in Chicago. A three-time Daytime Emmy nominee for Guiding Light, he has also sung with the New York City Opera and appeared in musicals around the country.
Tony History:
This is Raines’ first Tony Award nomination.
Fun Fact:
An in-demand concert performer, Raines first played the role of Ben Stone in a 1988 production with the Michigan Opera Theater.
