In act one Shamos plays Karl, a ‘50s Chicago suburbanite distressed about an African-American family moving into his neighborhood. In act two he plays Steve, half of a white couple that has purchased the same house—in a much-changed neighborhood—in 2009.
Bio Brief:
Shamos has been seen off-Broadway in Corpus Christi, Engaged, Miss Witherspoon, Race, Gutenberg! The Musical!, 100 Saints You Should Know, Hunting and Gathering and The New York Idea, among many others. His Broadway credits include Reckless, The Rivals and Elling.

This is Shamos’ first Tony nomination.
Fun Fact:
After graduating from NYU’s graduate acting program, Shamos’ first New York theater job was playing a literal spear-carrier in Cymbeline at Shakespeare in the Park.
