Beth Leavel Moves Up Debut Date in Young Frankenstein

Tony Award winner Beth Leavel is heading to Transylvania early, joining the cast of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein at the Hilton Theatre on July 15, a week sooner than previously announced. Leavel replaces Andrea Martin, who ended her Tony Award nominated run as comic castle cohort Frau Blucher on July 6.

Leavel joins cast members Roger Bart, Megan Mullally, Shuler Hensley, Fred Applegate, Christopher Fitzgerald and new cast member Kelly Sullivan, who replaces Sutton Foster in the role of Inga July 8. Michele Ragusa is set to replace Mullally as Elizabeth beginning August 5.

Leavel last appeared on Broadway in 2006's The Drowsy Chaperone, which earned her a Tony Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award. Additional Broadway credits include the revival of 42nd Street, Crazy for You, The Civil War, Showboat and the original production of 42nd Street. Off-Broadway credits include Love Star Love, The Jazz Singer and An Unfinished Song. She recently appeared in the Encores! production of No No Nanette.

Young Frankenstein, directed by Susan Stroman, won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Broadway Musical 2008 and garnered five Broadway.com Audience Awards, including Favorite New Broadway Musical.
