Christian Slater Begins Performances in Menagerie Earlier Than Expected

Christian Slater will begin performances in Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie earlier than expected. Instead of his originally scheduled March 8 start date, Slater will enter into the production March 4.

Slater recently finished a West End run in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. His other theatrical credits include Broadway productions of The Music Man, Copperfield, Macbeth, Merlin and Side Man. It was also recently announced that Slater intended to soon return to the West End in a staging of a different Williams play, Sweet Bird of Youth.

Slater is best known for his career in Hollywood. His film credits include The Legend of Billie Jean, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Gleaming the Cube, Heathers, Young Guns II, Pump Up the Volume, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Mobsters, Kuffs, Untamed Heart, True Romance, Interview with the Vampire, Murder in the First, Bed of Roses, Broken Arrow, Hard Rain, Very Bad Things, The Contender, 3000 Miles to Graceland, Who Is Cletis Tout?, Windtalkers, Mindhunters, Pursued and The Deal. He can currently be seen on the big screen in Alone in the Dark.

Slater joined the team of The Glass Menagerie just days before performances began on February 24, replacing Dallas Roberts in the role of Tom. Understudy Joey Collins has been playing the part since performances started.

The Glass Menagerie, directed by David Leveaux, also stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Josh Lucas. It is scheduled to officially open on March 22.
