Broadway.com has learned that Dan Hedaya is in talks to play Juror #10 in the Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming mounting of 12 Angry Men.

A popular character actor, Hedaya is probably still best known as Cheers's Nick Tortelli, the slimy ex-husband of Rhea Perlman's Carla. Hedaya had his own spin-off, the short-lived The Tortellis in 1987, but, after it was canceled, returned to his recurring role in Cheers. He has appeared in over 50 feature films with notable credits including Blood Simple, The Addams Family, The Usual Subjects, Clueless, The First Wives Club, Dick and Shaft and a dozen television series. In the last few years he has been featured on the big screen in Mulholland Dr., The Myersons, Quicksand, Swimfan, New Suit and American Cousins and on television in the acclaimed series, Lucky. Hedaya previously appeared on Broadway in The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. His off-Broadway credits include Museum, The Last Days of British Honduras, Conjuring an Event opposite Sigourney Weaver and the 1984 mounting of Henry V in Central Park with Kevin Kline in the title role.

Reginald Rose's 12 Angry Men is a courtroom drama that follows 12 jurors as they deliberate on a seemingly clear-cut murder case. The title is best known because of the 1957 film version of it, which starred Lee Cobb as Juror #3, Henry Fonda as Juror #8 and Ed Begley as Juror #10.

Thee Roundabout mounting of the play, directed by Scott Ellis and featuring Philip Bosco as Juror #3, is scheduled to begin performances at the American Airlines Theatre in September 2004. A production spokesperson could not confirm the casting of Hedaya.
