Entrants must submit a video of themselves dancing in '50s finery to a song from the stage version of Hairspray. The top 10 videos, chosen by a panel of judges including stars Diana DeGarmo and Haylie Duff, will be posted online, and America will vote for its three favorites. A second round of internet voting will choose the winner, who will be flown to New York, work with Hairspray's dance captain and appear in the show for one performance.

Semi-finalists will be chosen and announced on October 18, and the internet voting period continues through November 15. On November 22, the three finalists will be announced and the final round of internet voting will run through December 15. The winner will be announced on December 20.
