John Altieri, Jersey Boys National Tour Player, Dead at 38
John Altieri
John Altieri, who played Bob Crew and other parts throughout the first national tour of Jersey Boys, died in Las Vegas on May 4. The cause was complications due to pneumonia. He was 38.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Altieri performed in school plays before studying dramatic literature and acting at Duke University and UCLA, respectively. His regional credits include David Mamet's Romance with San Diego Rep and Long Beach Opera's The Threepenny Opera. He also directed while working with companies like the Blank Theatre and Sacred Fools in Los Angeles.

Altieri joined the Jersey Boys tour in December 2006 and performed on the road for 15 months. He was set to reprise his turn as Bob Crewe for the show's Las Vegas debut, but fell ill shortly after rehearsals began. He passed away the day after the production's opening night.

He's survived by his parents Charles and Eileen Altieri who still reside in Brockton, his brother Charles, his sister Mary, her husband John and their four sons.
