North Shore Music Theatre Suffers Damage from Fire

North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA has been significantly damaged by a fire that occurred after 11pm on July 14. No one was injured in the blaze, which is thought to have been caused by an electrical malfunction that occurred underneath the stage surface. Because of heat, smoke and water damage caused by the fire, the theater will not reopen until August 23.

North Shore was in the midst of presenting Cinderella, which was scheduled to close on July 31. It is now gone for this summer and will reopen in summer 2006. The following concerts will be moved to future dates: ABBA Gold on August 6, Engelbert Humperdinck on August 10, Kenny Rogers on August 11, Charlie Daniels Band on August 13 and The Beach Boys on August 14. In addition the Children's Summer Musicals, Rapunzel, Super Scientific Circus and Peter and the Wolf will either be rescheduled or canceled altogether.

NSMT plans to reopen on August 23 with the musical Abyssinia.
