Patrick Page Returns to Broadway's The Lion King as Scar

Patrick Page will return to the leading role of Scar in The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre on January 31. Page had played the villainous Scar for three years before taking on the role of the Grinch in the recent Broadway production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

In addition to The Grinch, Page's other Broadway credits include Julius Caesar, Beauty and the Beast, The Kentucky Cycle and A Christmas Carol. A respected classical actor, he has been seen recently in the title role of Macbeth opposite Kelly McGillis and as Iago opposite Avery Brooks' Othello, both under the direction of Michael Kahn at Washington's Shakespeare Theatre Company. For his Iago, he received the Helen Hayes Award for Best Leading Actor. Page is also a playwright whose play Swansong was presented this past season at off-Broadway's Summer Play Festival on Theatre Row.

Page wrote about the challenge of playing Scar and other villainous characters for Broadway.com during his run as the Grinch. To read his essay, click here.
