Sly Fox to Open at the Barrymore on April 1
Richard Dreyfuss
Larry Gelbart's Sly Fox will bow at the Barrymore Theatre this spring. The production, starring Richard Dreyfuss and directed by Arthur Penn, has set an April 1 opening date, a spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com.

Sly Fox, based on Ben Jonson's Volpone, is a dark comedy about greed taken to the extreme. It originally opened on Broadway in 1976 and lasted 495 performances at the Broadhurst Theatre before closing on February 19, 1978. The cast of that production, which was also directed by Penn, included Hector Elizondo, Bob Dishy and George C. Scott. As we previously reported, Dishy is in negotiations to appear in this upcoming Sly Fox revival.

Sly Fox will hit Broadway following a brief out-of-town engagement, the location of which has yet to be set. The production will feature set design by George Jenkins and Jesse Poleshuck, costumes by Albert Wolsky and lighting design by Phil Monat. Although it was once announced the show would begin previews on the Great White Way on February 27, it will now start performances in March.
