Angela Bassett made her Broadway debut in 1988's Joe Turner's Come and Gone. A successful film career followed, with hits like Waiting to Exhale, Malcolm X, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and an Oscar-nominated performance in What's Love Got To Do With It? Bassett later starred in Macbeth at the Public and Fences in L.A. and returns to Broadway in The Mountaintop.
