John Gallagher Jr. gained notice for his work in three different plays by David Lindsay-Abaire (including the Pulitzer Prize winning Rabbit Hole). he went on to win a Tony Award for his performance as a troubled teen in Spring Awakening. Gallagher continued his streak of angst-ridden adolescent roles by leading the cast of the Green Day rock opera, American Idiot (frequently performing opposite Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong), as well as the British import Jerusalem.
