Wopat, Chamberlin and Babatunde Headed Back to Chicago

Tom Wopat, Kevin Chamberlin and Obba Babatundé will play return engagements in the Broadway company of Chicago this summer. Babatundé has signed on for a two-week stint as defense attorney Billy Flynn beginning July 15, replacing Jeff McCarthy, who leaves the show on July 13. Wopat is next up as Billy, returning to the show on July 29, two days after closing A Catered Affair. Chamberlin assumes the role of Amos Hart on July 15, succeeding Raymond Bokhour, who plays his final performance July 13.

Wopat received a 2008 Best Actor Tony nominations for his performance as Tom Hurley in A Catered Affair and was nominated for playing Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun. His other Broadway credits include I Love My Wife, City of Angels, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, 42nd Street and Glengarry Glen Ross. Familiar to TV viewers from his starring role in The Dukes of Hazzard, Wopat is a popular recording and concert artist.

Chamberlin received Tony nominations for his performances in Dirty Blonde and Seussical and starred in last season's Broadway revival of The Ritz. Other Broadway credits include My Favorite Year, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, Triumph of Love and Encores! productions of Stairway to Paradise, Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 and One Touch of Venus.

Babatundé received a Tony nomination for Dreamgirls and has appeared on Broadway in Timbuktu!, Reggae, It's So Nice to Be Civilized and Grind.

The Broadway company of Chicago currently features Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, Nancy Lemenager as Velma Kelly and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton.The revival will celebrate its 12th anniversary on November 14 and its 5,000th performance on November 28 at the Ambassador Theatre.
