Dolly Parton's musical adaptation of the popular movie.
Hanging out with Megan Hilty in her dressing room at the Marquis Theatre, where she is appearing in the musical version of 9 to 5, is like having a spa day with your BFF. There’s hair, makeup, clothes, gossip and loads of laughs. It’s no surprise that Hilty is portraying Doralee Rhodes, the part originated by bubbly 9 to 5 composer/lyricist Dolly Parton. The two blonde babes are both savvy stars who know the worth of a great part, a well-sung song (like Doralee’s number “Backwoods Barbie,” which explains her world view with sass and wit) and a great pair of… heels. Hilty graciously let Broadway.com visit her as she prepared to take the stage as the spirited secretary with a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss.
