Dolly Parton's musical adaptation of the popular movie.
Country superstar Dolly Parton hit New York in a big way on April 14, shimmying around new musical 9 to 5’s Marquis Theatre to give a warm “Howdy!” to a whole corral of fans. The platinum (in more ways than one) recording artist makes her Broadway debut as composer of the show, which has been adapted from the hit 1980 movie about fed-up secretaries getting even with their misogynistic boss (starring none other than Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Parton herself). We dropped in on the friendly fan favorite as she worked the crowd—something she’ll be doing again on April 30, when the show has its official opening night.
