Colman Domingo took the weight of off-Broadway on his shoulders on September 24--and carried it with ease. The Passing Strange alum opened his new one-man show A Boy and His Soul at the Vineyard Theater to an audience filled with familiar (and friendly) faces. Domingo wrotes and stars in the autobiographical play, using his love of soul music to help tell the story of his Philadephia upbringing, personal revelations about love and sexuality and interactions with his family with (everything's easier when you're getting help from tracks by Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Earth, Wind & Fire). After 85 minutes transforming from one character to the next, Domingo finally made his way to his very own opening night party, meeting up with supporters and fellow board trotters like Anika Noni Rose, Marian Seldes and de'Adre Aziza.
