The cast of In the Heights, a new musical about Washington Heights that is set to premiere at off-Broadway's 37 Arts in early 2007, has been announced.

Playing principal roles are Andrea Burns credits include the national tour of Parade and The Full Monty, Janet Decal, Robin de Jesus Rent, Mandy Gonzalez Dance of the Vampires, Lennon, John Herrera Tony nominee for The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Christopher Jackson The Lion King, Priscilla Lopez Tony Award winner for A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine and Tony nominee for A Chorus Line, Olga Merediz, Karen Olivo Rent, Brooklyn and newcomer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also happens to be the show's composer and lyricist.

In the Heights is a new musical about two days in the life of Washington Heights, a vibrant and tight-knit neighborhood at the top of Manhattan. From the vantage point of Usnavi's corner bodega, we experience the joys, heartbreaks and bonds of a Latino community struggling to redefine home. In the Heights features direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, a score by Miranda and book by Quiara Alegria Hudes.

Featured in the ensemble of In the Heights are Rosie Fiedelman, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Joshua Henry, Nina Lafarga, Doreen Montalvo, Javier Munoz, Eliseo Roman, Luis Salgado, Seth Stewart, Rickey Tripp, Michael Balderrama and Stephanie Klemons.

Previews for In the Heights start at 37 Arts on January 9, 2007 with an official press opening set for February 8.
