There is no question that the April 27 audience at Irena’s Vow didn’t know what they were in for. Sure, they knew they were going to see force-of-nature actress Tovah Feldshuh give another one of her trademark powerhouse performances as real-life heroine Irena Gut Opdyke. But they probably didn’t know that sitting among them would be 33 Variations star Jane Fonda, who attended with her friend, the anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson. And we’re pretty sure no one (including Fonda) expected that the Oscar-winning actress would have such an emotional reaction to the show. “I had been warned that Irena’s Vow was moving, but I wasn’t prepared and had no tissues with me,” Fonda blog
