Robert Stanton and Daniel Jenkins in Love Child
About the Show
Love Child, which made its debut at Primary Stages in fall 2008, is returning to off-Broadway. Written by and starring Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton with direction by Carl Forsman, the show begins performances on October 23 at New World Stages. Opening night is set for October 31. The limited engagement plays through January 3, 2010.
In Love Child, it's opening night. The cast is unruly, the crowd is restless, and the play is obscure, but Joel has a larger worry: his mother is in the front row. Real and theatrical worlds collide in this comedy about the night a classic play spoke so loudly to its audience that they felt compelled to talk back.
Jenkins’ Broadway credits include Mary Poppins, Wrong Mountain, Big, Angels in America, a Tony Award-nominated turn in the original Big River, as well as the revival of Big River. Off-Broadway includes Love Child, Bye Bye Birdie, The Pajama Game, Spinning Into Butter, Dream True, The Maiden’s Prayer, Feast Here Tonight, Triumph of Love, Johnny Pye and many more. On screen, he has been seen in Joshua, Cradle Will Rock, Glory, In Country, What Comes Around, Infested, The Perfect You and Five Corners. Television includes Law & Order, Cracker, The Knife and Gun Club, Florida Straits and Going to Extremes.
Stanton’s Broadway credits include Mary Stuart and The Coast of Utopia. Off-Broadway, he has been seen in The Right Kind of People, All in the Timing, The Bald Soprano, Stealing Sweets & Punching People, Fuddy Meers, Overtime, Cymbeline, Measure for Measure, A Cheever Evening, Five Visits from Mr. Whitcomb and many others.
