Cary Hoffman brings his one-man musical about his obsession with Frank Sinatra to the heart of Broadway.
What Is the Story of My Sinatra?
My Sinatra is a one-man musical that follows performer Cary Hoffman’s life-long obsession with Frank Sinatra. When his father passed away during Hoffman’s childhood, he and his mother went to live with his three uncles, who served as studio musicians during Sinatra’s recording sessions. Hoffman began to idolize Sinatra and view him as a stand-in father figure. The performer spent his teen years trying to capture the magic of Sinatra’s voice and soon began a crooning career of his own.
What Is My Sinatra Like?
My Sinatra takes place on an intimate stage, where Hoffman is accompanied only by a pianist. He speaks out to the audience as he recounts his life story and often interacts with the crowd. After each story, Hoffman sings a Sinatra song that resonates with that anecdote. Numbers include well-known hits like “Fly Me to the Moon,” “High Hopes” and “That’s Life.”
Is My Sinatra Good for Kids?
Children familiar with Frank Sinatra’s musical legacy will enjoy the show, however Hoffman discusses some very adult themes including Sinatra’s battle with alcoholism, extra-marital affairs, mafia activity and more. Hoffman also uses the occasional expletive during his monologues.
