Story

What Is the Story of Old Hats?
Clowning duo Bill Irwin and David Shiner’s newest comedy collaboration, Old Hats is a mixed bag of silly sketches, magic tricks, music and even a dance step or two. Featuring live music by singer-songwriter Nellie McKay and her four-piece band, Old Hats is a whimsical tribute to old-school vaudeville with a tip of the hat to modern technology.

Should I See It?

What Is Old Hats Like?
In Old Hats, Irwin and Shiner embody a variety of kooky characters, including two guffawing politicians, a sleezy magician and his jealous assistant (Irwin, in drag), a down-on-his-luck hobo, a spaghetti-slinging chef and two feuding businessmen waiting for a train. Featuring McKay’s soulful and satirical tunes, Old Hats is a delightful evening of music and comedy. With a runtime of one hour and 50 minutes, Old Hats flies by—we were too busy laughing to look at our watches.

Is Old Hats Good For Kids?
Old Hats contains a few off-color gags, so it’s not an ideal show for young children. Older teens will get a kick out of Irwin and Shiner’s hilarious (although at times, PG-13) antics.
