Playwright Neil LaBute Talks Pretty With the Times

The new Broadway play Reasons to be Pretty, currently in previews at the Lyceum Theatre, takes on a thought-provoking, albeit hilarious, subject: America’s obsession with good looks and what it does to people. So it was only natural that The New York Times nabbed the show for a TimesTalk event on March 23, bringing cast members Thomas Sadoski, Marin Ireland, Steven Pasquale and Piper Perabo, playwright Neil LaBute and LaBute-veterans like Gretchen Mol and Kerry Washington to the Times Center for “An Evening with Neil LaBute and Friends.”  The evening celebrated the scribe and his knack for hitting social issues on the head while still entertaining audiences (never an easy juggling act), offering scenes from the artist’s work and giving audience members a chance to ask questions before Reasons to be Pretty
