Description

Reckless first premiered at off-Broadway's now-defunct Circle Repertory Theatre in 1988, firmly establishing playwright Craig Lucas as one of New York's hottest budding talents. The following season he unveiled perhaps his best-known play, Prelude to a Kiss, starring rising downtown star Mary-Louise Parker. Now, Lucas and Parker are together again, collaborating on this Broadway premiere of the play that started it all. Following the strange adventures of a wandering housewife, Reckless is a black comedy with a warm heart. It's Christmas Eve. Rachel's son has "fired" her, [IMG:L]her husband's put out a contract on her life, and so she's out the window--literally. This bittersweet comedy follows Rachel through a bizarre, fantastic, and sometimes nightmarish journey as she travels across the country, finding "home" with a succession of intimate strangers. In addition to Parker, Reckless stars another Lucas regular, Debra Monk, as a variety of therapists and a castful of additional oddballs. If quirky comedy is your thing, Reckless is highly recommended.
