In honor of Valentine’s Day, Broadway.com decided to ask some of the most romantic people we know—Broadway stars—to share their thoughts on the season of love, and the shows that make them swoon.

What character from a Broadway show (past or present) could you fall in love with and why?
I recently saw Ragtime and fell in love with the show! As far as characters, I think I could fall in love with [Ragtime‘s central character] Coalhouse Walker. He was really trying to change his circumstances and being so positive in the face of such hatred, and I always root for the underdog. The way he would go to [Sarah]’s house and play the piano, and she wouldn’t even talk to him? That was very romantic! And I don’t want to give too much plot away, but in the end, when he started to trust again after everything he had been through? Ugh, it killed me. I for sure love Coalhouse!
