What Is the Story of Scandalous?

Set in the 1920s, Scandalous is about the life of early revivalist and broadcasting pioneer Aimee Semple McPherson. It follows her life and career from her childhood to her controversial death in 1944, focusing on her mysterious "kidnapping" and the ensuing trial. Other highlights include Aimee leaving her second husband to travel the country and hold tent revivals, founding the Foursquare Church in Los Angeles, becoming the first woman to obtain a radio broadcast license in the United States, her multimedia empire and her interactions with contemporaries such as Charles Chaplin and William Randolph Hearst.
