The Scottsboro Boys - Broadway

Susan Stroman directs the world premiere of Kander and Ebb's musical.

Making History (On Stage) with The Scottsboro Boys

It’s a fascinating (and, in some ways, almost unbelievable) true story: After being pulled from a train and accused of raping two white women, nine innocent young African-American were tried, re-tried and re-tried yet again while waiting for justice in 1930s Alabama. This infamous case, named for the town where the men were arrested, has been transformed by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb into a new musical titled The Scottsboro Boys . The show opened at off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre on March 10, and Broadway.com got the scoop on its path to production from Kander, book writer David Thompson and members of the cast.
