ABOUT THIS PHOTO
It’s no small feat to upstage a 30-piece orchestra, a huge and starry cast and a stage full of gorgeous scenery. But this curtain call is all about one thing…

About This Gallery

Talk about a match made in hero heaven: Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger—the pilot who safely landed U.S. Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on January 15, and saved the lives of everyone onboard—took his wife and his two daughters to see South Pacific on February 7. Obviously the “Miracle on the Hudson” man and the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic share some common threads. They both have military roots (the musical takes place during WWII, Sully flew fighter jets for the Air Force in the 1970s). Each stand firm as emblems of uncommon valor and true grit. And just as Lincoln Center’s Tony Award-winning revival is reacquainting theatergoers with one of the most beloved shows of all-time, Sullenberger has reminded the nation that a “hero” isn’t just something you have for lunch. Click on to see the world’s greatest pilot meet the cast of Broadway’s greatest musical!
