Some Enchanted Reunion! Original Stars Return for South Pacific's 60th Anniversary

Sixty years after Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific opened on Broadway on April 7, 1949, a dozen members of the original cast—plus Iva Withers, who played Nellie Forbush on the national tour—came together for a very special reunion. On April 1, the actors joined Mary Rodgers Guettel and Alice Hammerstein Mathias at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre for the matinee performance of the musical’s smash hit revival. Introduced from the stage after the show by Danny Burstein (Luther Billis), the visitors were warmly applauded by the delighted crowd, then posed for photos with the actors now playing the roles they created. Take a look at this historic Broadway meet-and-greet.
