About the Show
We had doughnuts on our mind on opening night of Tracy Letts’ new play Superior Donuts, and so did the star-studded crowd of first-nighters! Outside the Music Box Theatre on October 1, we asked the arriving VIPs their opinion of everyone’s favorite sugary breakfast treat, then had a more substantive discussion about the play with Letts, director Tina Landau and star Michael McKean and his castmates at the after-party, held at Redeye Grill. Letts’ comedy about the unlikely friendship between a sixty-ish Chicago doughnut shop owner and his 21-year-old African American helper is one of the fall season’s most anticipated events. Check out our video coverage of the happy opening night scene.
