The 39 Steps Celebrates a New Broadway Home

Doing their part to keep Alfred Hitchcock au courant, The 39 Steps officially opened in its new home, the Cort Theatre, on May 8. The popular British import (itself a send-up of Hitch's classic whodunit from 1935) has racked up some impressive mileage in the last several years. In 2005, the show premiered in Leeds at the West Yorkshire Playhouse before transferring to the Tricycle Theatre in London. After graduating to the West End, Steps made its U.S. premiere in Boston in September 2007 before debuting on Broadway in January. That, and now the Cort... whew! With all their packing up and moving about, one wonders how the cast and crew mustered up any sort of energy for an after-party. Then again, since it took place at the intriguingly named Club Touch, one wonders how anyone could've chose not to attend.
